Bihar Power Consumers should start taking an active interest in the international price of coal as ‘fuel surcharge’ makes a large difference in the electricity bill

The Bihar Electricity Regularity Commission has allowed levy of Fuel Surcharge on quarterly basis and from June’2011 an extra column on ‘fuel surcharge’ is being added to your electricity bill which  reflects the variation in global coal prices. This levy of Fuel Surcharge is making a large difference to your already increased bill which depends on what price BSEB get power from NTPC generating stations at and the international price of coal.

Power consumers body must start taking an active interest in the international price of coal  which account for more than 90% of power procurement costs. Comments on this issue is welcomed.
