The Government of in Bihar presented a revenue surplus budget for 2011-12 here on Friday despite the State being encumbered by the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations and affected by a severe drought”. The State’s total expenditure for fiscal 2011-12 would be Rs.65325.87 crore, which includes the total Plan size pegged at Rs.27,502.92 crore and the total non-Plan estimates marked at Rs.37,822.95 crore.
In the total Plan size, Bihar’s outlay this year is an estimated Rs.24,000 crore as against Rs.20,000 crore in 2010-11, indicating a 20% increase, while the total share of Centrally sponsored schemes and Centrally planned schemes are estimated at Rs.3356.33 crore and Rs.146.59 crore respectively.
An outlay of 1682.23 crores have been proposed for power sector. The government has allocated Rs 71 crore, for renewable energy.
Bihar now has a state-of-the-art financial management system whereby any departmental head can know the status of the utilization of public funds under his control on any given day.
